MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel presently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a number of small companies in Cornwall currently generate income from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to have the ability to get this kind of industry going it does require just a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
